On Monday, Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, engaged in fruitful discussions with European Union (EU) ambassadors regarding the relationship between Bharat and the EU, as well as various regional and global issues. During the meeting in New Delhi, Jaishankar expressed his gratitude for the ambassadors’ efforts in bolstering Bharat’s ties with their respective nations. He also shared insights gathered from the Munich Security Conference, underscoring the importance of such diplomatic exchanges.
The 60th Munich Security Conference, held from February 16-18, 2024, provided a platform for further diplomatic engagement. Jaishankar had a significant meeting with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell during the conference, where they exchanged perspectives on global affairs. Jaishankar expressed his anticipation for Borrell’s visit to India, further indicating the commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Bharat and the EU.
Looking ahead, New Delhi is set to host a roundtable discussion on February 21, focusing on collaboration between the EU and Bharat in addressing security and policy aspects related to online disinformation and information manipulation. With over 35 experts from both entities convening in New Delhi, the roundtable aims to delve into crucial issues while identifying potential areas of collaboration. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of Bharat and the EU towards ensuring a secure and accessible cyberspace conducive to economic growth and innovation.
