Govt. Proposes 5-Year-Purchase Plan with a New MSP Deal | Farmers to Call Off “Delhi Chalo” March?
After the Central government proposed a new plan for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the crops on Sunday, the farmer leaders have apparently decided to hold the “Delhi Chalo” march for two days to study the proposal. The development came after the fourth round of talks were held between Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, and farmer leaders in Chandigarh. The Centre has presented a five-year plan for the purchase of pulses, maize, and cotton crops by government agencies at minimum support prices, without any quantity limitations.
