Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, criticized Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, suggesting that wherever their campaign called ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ goes, the Congress party faces electoral setbacks. He expressed this view while speaking to ANI, stating that the Congress collapses in areas where the Nyay Yatra passes through. Sarma also mentioned the reported differences between the Gandhis and Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh, implying that wherever the Nyay Yatra travels, injustice follows for the Congress party.
During the Vijay Sankalp Yatra, Sarma openly criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of lacking substance and depending solely on falsehoods. He pointed out a contradiction where Rahul Gandhi questions Prime Minister Modi’s achievements but then holds a roadshow on a national highway constructed by Modi. Sarma emphasized that according to him, Rahul Gandhi has not learned anything except spreading lies, and he sarcastically remarked that Rahul Gandhi seems to be touring Bharat as a couple with Priyanka Gandhi.
Sarma also highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s past electoral losses during nationwide tours, stating that the first time he toured Bharat, the Congress lost elections in three states. He confidently added that this time, Rahul Gandhi is likely to lose the entire country during his tour.
In response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments about seeing drunk people on the roads of Varanasi, a constituency represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sarma didn’t hesitate to criticize him further. Rahul Gandhi had made these remarks during his visit to Varanasi as part of the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Sarma, in his remarks, implied that such comments were baseless and aimed at discrediting Modi.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, addressing a public meeting on the thirty-eighth day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, raised concerns about the concentration of power, resources, and wealth in the hands of a few while the majority of the population, including Dalits, backwards, Adivasis, and the poor among the general castes, are deprived. However, Sarma’s criticism of Rahul Gandhi and support for the BJP’s stance portrays a different narrative, suggesting skepticism towards the effectiveness of Rahul Gandhi’s campaign and reinforcing support for the BJP-led government’s policies and initiatives.
