Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers during his address at the golden jubilee celebrations of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation in Ahmedabad. Emphasizing the extensive measures taken, he mentioned the establishment of over 60,000 Amrit Sarovars across the country, aiming to benefit farmers and bolster the rural economy. The Prime Minister expressed a focus on enhancing the lives of small farmers, expanding animal husbandry, and promoting activities like pisciculture and beekeeping in villages.
Addressing the audience, PM Modi highlighted the distribution of modern seeds to combat climate change and the provision of Kisan Credit Card facilities to cattle farmers and fish farmers for the first time. He praised the pivotal role of ‘Nari Shakti’ (women empowerment) in the flourishing dairy sector, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing the economic power of women.
PM Modi commended the growth of Amul, symbolizing the strength of India’s cattle rearers. He extended wishes to the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation on its golden jubilee and recognized the significant contribution of women in various sectors, citing the success of Mudra Yojana and the increasing number of women in Self Help Groups.
The Prime Minister highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s dairy sector, with a 6% growth rate compared to the global rate of 2%. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi on the importance of villages, PM Modi stressed the need to strengthen India’s rural economy, outlining the government’s holistic approach.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the state’s progress in cooperative milk production, doubling the number of milk corporations in the last two decades. He praised the financial empowerment of women engaged in the dairy industry.
PM Modi later visited an exhibition by Amul and unveiled development projects worth over Rs 22,850 crore in various sectors across Gujarat. The projects include significant initiatives in road, rail, energy, health, internet connectivity, urban development, and tourism. The Prime Minister also inaugurated electric buses, the Tapi Purification Project, and various projects in the South Zone of Gujarat, emphasizing the government’s commitment to comprehensive development across the state.
