In a surprising twist, France which is known for its rather accepting approach, has taken a rather bold step in upholding its national Integrity and respect for its national flag.
A Tunisian Muslim cleric, Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi, was expelled from France, owing to his “unacceptable” comments on the French flag. French Interior Minister, Geral Darmanin announced on Thursday.
The Interior Minister in his statement shared on social media platform X,wrote, “The radical Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi has just been expelled from the national territory, less than 12 hours after his arrest. We will not let people get away with anything.”
The development came in the aftermath of Mahjoubi’s social media post wherein he referred to the French Flag as “satanic”. The expulsion order described Mahjoubi’s act as promoting “literal, backward, intolerant, and violent conception of Islam.”
Furthermore, The expulsion order stated that such an act could lead to inciting behaviours contrary to the Republic’s values, including discrimination against women, withdrawal into identity, encouarage Jihadist radicalisation and create discontent in the Jewish community.
The cleric of the Ettaouba mosque in Bagnols-sur-Ceze, defended his stance and said that he never intended to to disrespect to the French Flag. His lawyers are expected to appeal the expulsion procedure, arguing against the decision. According to reports, the 52 year old accused was sent back to Tunisia’s capital Tunis on a flight on Thursday evening. He came in France in the 1980s and is married with 5 children.
The latest development shows that the West, which had previously completely was ignorant to Islamic propagandas is finally waking up to see the truth for itself.
