In a recent annual health checkup, President Joe Biden has been declared fit for duty, according to a memo released by his physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor. The 81-year-old President underwent the routine physical examination at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The assessment included consultations with specialists in various fields such as optometry, dentistry, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, and dermatology.
Dr. O’Connor affirmed that President Biden continues to execute all his responsibilities without any exemptions or accommodations, indicating no major health concerns. Biden himself shared a lighthearted moment with reporters, mentioning that doctors commented on his youthful appearance.
While some political opponents have called for a cognitive test, the President’s doctors have deemed it unnecessary. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre emphasized that both the President’s physician and neurologist have concluded that Biden does not require such a test. Jean-Pierre highlighted Biden’s ability to handle the demands of his position daily and lead effectively, despite his age.
As the oldest president in U.S. history, Biden’s health has been under scrutiny, especially amidst concerns about mental decline. However, Dr. O’Connor’s memo stated that there were no neurological findings consistent with disorders like stroke, Parkinson’s, or multiple sclerosis. The examination did reveal mild peripheral neuropathy in both feet, along with some issues like decreased range of motion and increased left hip discomfort.
Despite these minor concerns, the President remains active and robust, with a height of 72 inches and a weight of 178 lbs. Dr. O’Connor concluded that Biden is healthy and capable of fulfilling his duties as Chief Executive, Head of State, and Commander in Chief.
In response to the examination results, President Biden reaffirmed his readiness to lead the nation, emphasizing his determination to steer the country forward and address pressing issues like crime, immigration, and the economy. With his health checkup complete, Biden continues his focus on governing and addressing the needs of the American people.
