Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in West Bengal’s Arambagh on Friday, strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress party (TMC) and its allies in the I.N.D.I. alliance, including Congress, over their silence on the Sandeshkhali issue.
In his speech, PM Modi expressed his dismay over the lack of response from opposition parties regarding the atrocities against women in Sandeshkhali. He accused them of behaving like Gandhi’s monkeys, metaphorically covering their eyes, ears, and mouths when it comes to addressing the issue.
PM Modi highlighted the anger across the country regarding the actions of TMC in Sandeshkhali and condemned the party for allegedly shielding a TMC leader involved in the incident. He praised the efforts of BJP leaders in West Bengal for fighting tirelessly for the dignity of women and pressuring the government to take action against the accused.

The Prime Minister questioned the priorities of the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, asking whether the votes of certain individuals were more important than addressing the atrocities against women. He criticized top leaders of the I.N.D.I. alliance for their silence on the Sandeshkhali issue, accusing them of neglecting the victims and insulting Bengal’s culture and tradition.

PM Modi further lambasted the alliance for allegedly protecting corrupt politicians and dynasts, accusing TMC of setting a new standard for corruption. He pointed out the alleged discovery of large sums of money in TMC leaders’ homes, questioning whether such wealth was ever seen even in movies.
In response to PM Modi’s remarks, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge faced criticism for his statement during a TV conclave where he dismissed the Sandeshkhali horror as a routine occurrence in West Bengal, stating that it wasn’t relevant for national debate.
Kharge’s remarks drew ire for downplaying the seriousness of the issue and failing to take a stand against the atrocities. His comments further fueled the Prime Minister’s criticism of the opposition’s silence and indifference towards the plight of the victims in Sandeshkhali.
The controversy surrounding the Sandeshkhali incident continues to escalate, with political leaders and parties trading accusations and criticisms amid growing public outrage over the alleged mishandling of the situation by the TMC-led government in West Bengal.
