As the nation braces itself for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, a new wave of enthusiasm sweeps across the country with supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) embracing the slogan ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ on social media platforms. This surge in fervor comes in response to a recent exchange between BJP leaders and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief, Lalu Yadav, regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s family.
At a rally in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, Lalu Yadav questioned PM Modi’s stance on dynasty politics and raised inquiries about the absence of a family in the Prime Minister’s life. Responding to this, PM Modi asserted during a rally in Telangana that the entire nation is his family, echoing the sentiment of “Mera Bharat, Mera Parivar” (My India, My Family).
The Prime Minister’s statement garnered widespread support from BJP leaders and supporters, who rallied around his assertion that his commitment lies with the people of Bharat. Senior BJP figures such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president J P Nadda, and various cabinet ministers promptly added ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ to their social media profiles, signaling solidarity with PM Modi’s vision.
This slogan, reminiscent of past election campaigns, notably draws parallels to the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ movement initiated in 2019. The ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign emerged in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s accusations against PM Modi, using the term “Chowkidar chor hai” (The watchman is a thief). In a strategic move, PM Modi and BJP leaders embraced the ‘Chowkidar’ prefix on social media, turning it into a rallying cry to counter opposition attacks.
The success of the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ campaign in shifting the narrative and galvanizing support suggests that ‘Modi Ka Parivar’ could emerge as a prominent slogan for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. With PM Modi positioning himself as a guardian of the nation and rallying his supporters under the banner of ‘Modi Ka Parivar,’ the political landscape of Bharat undergoes yet another transformation as election fervor intensifies.
