Fresh images of the suspect involved in the recent Bengaluru cafe blast have surfaced, providing crucial leads for the ongoing investigation. The suspect was captured on CCTV traveling on a bus without a cap and mask, indicating a change in appearance after the blast. Sources revealed that the suspect’s baseball cap was recovered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) near a mosque close to the blast site, suggesting a deliberate attempt to alter his appearance.
The CCTV footage traced the suspect’s movements on March 1, the day of the explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Whitefield, Bengaluru. The footage shows the suspect arriving at a nearby bus stop around 10:45 am, entering the cafe at 11:34 am, and leaving at 11:43 am. Subsequently, he walked to a bus stop over a kilometer away, utilizing public buses for his escape.
In response to the urgency of the situation, the NIA has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for any information leading to the suspect’s apprehension. Additionally, the agency has released the suspect’s CCTV grab to aid in identification efforts.
Sources familiar with the investigation have revealed that the CCTV trail has provided crucial insights into the suspect’s identity, including his facial features. It is noted that the suspect utilized multiple public buses both to plant the improvised explosive device (IED) and to flee the scene, making various stopovers along the way.
According to reports, one significant discovery was the recovery of the suspect’s baseball cap at a location where he made a stopover during his escape. It is believed that the suspect changed his attire at this point, discarding the cap to further evade detection.
