The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that the construction of the Ram temple complex in Ayodhya is progressing swiftly and is expected to be completed by December of this year. Since the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22, approximately 7.5 million devotees have visited the temple, showcasing the immense significance of this holy site.
Anil Mishra, a member of the temple trust, stated that currently, around 1,500 workers are engaged in the construction, with plans to deploy an additional 3,500 workers soon to expedite the building process. The ground floor of the temple was completed in December of the previous year, and efforts are now focused on constructing the remaining two floors of the three-story temple structure.
In a recent meeting of the temple construction committee, it was decided to ensure the completion of all constructions within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex by the year’s end. Mishra explained that the sanctum sanctorum is situated on the ground floor, while the court of Lord Ram will be installed on the first floor, allowing devotees to have ‘darshan’ of both Ram Lalla and Lord Ram’s court.
The construction of the main spire and another spire of the grand temple is progressing rapidly, with completion expected within 300 days. The temple will feature a total of five peaks, three of which were prepared before the consecration ceremony. The main peak, reaching a height of 161 feet, will be adorned with a layer of gold.
Efforts are also underway to complete the ‘parkota’ of the temple before the onset of the monsoon season to provide protection to devotees from rain and sun. Additionally, the complex will house temples dedicated to six gods and goddesses along with temples for seven sages, as described in ancient religious texts.
L&T, the construction company responsible for building the temple, is mobilizing a workforce from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh to expedite the construction process. Temples dedicated to Hindu saints, including Valmiki, Vashishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya, Nishadraj, and Ahilya, will also be constructed within the complex.
Furthermore, plans are underway to widen the road leading from Tedhi Bazaar to a post office via Ashrafi Bhawan and Vibhishan Kund by 15 meters to accommodate the increasing number of devotees visiting the Ram temple. Ayodhya’s District Magistrate Nitish Kumar highlighted the necessity of this expansion due to the rising footfall of devotees, particularly on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Prakash Gupta, officer in-charge of the Ram temple trust, noted that more than two lakh devotees visit the temple on specific days, while around 1.5 lakh devotees arrive on other days, underscoring the significant religious and cultural importance of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
