Today, Air India took to the skies with a special touch of femininity, celebrating International Women’s Day in a grand way. The airline group marked the occasion with a series of notable activities aimed at recognizing and empowering women.

A total of 15 flights operated by Air India proudly boasted all-women crews, both in domestic routes and international sectors. This highlighted the airline’s commitment to gender equality and representation within its workforce.

Air India proudly announced that over 15 percent of its cockpit crew are women, a remarkable feat that positions the airline as one of the leaders in promoting female pilots. Additionally, women constitute a significant 51 percent of Air India’s total workforce, showcasing their integral role in the company’s operations.

In the past two years, especially since Air India rejoined the Tata group, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of women employees across all departments. At Air India Express, over 13 percent of pilots are women, and close to half of the workforce comprises female employees, reflecting a broader trend of inclusivity and gender diversity within the aviation industry.

To further empower and inspire its women employees, Air India has organized a week-long series of programs, including webinars and live sessions with experts and role models from various fields. These initiatives aim to raise awareness and provide inspiration to women across the network.

As a special gesture to its female customers, Air India Express offered complimentary seat selection and priority boarding services through its mobile app and website. This served as a token of appreciation for the invaluable contributions of female passengers to the airline’s success.

In addition, the Air India Loyalty Programme, Flying Returns, rolled out a limited-time offer exclusively for its women members. They were given a fast-track opportunity to upgrade to the Silver Edge Club, unlocking benefits such as 15 percent more reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.

This year, International Women’s Day is celebrated under the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” Air India’s initiatives not only celebrate the achievements of women but also underscore the importance of investing in their potential to drive positive change and progress in society.
