Bharatiya External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has undertaken a significant visit to Japan, meeting with prominent Japanese figures to bolster the already strong ties between the two countries.
During his visit, Jaishankar met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who currently serves as the chairman of the Japan-India Association. In their meeting, Jaishankar expressed his pleasure and commended Suga’s influential leadership in advancing bilateral relations between India and Japan, as well as their collaborative efforts within the Quad alliance.
Jaishankar also held discussions with Toshimitsu Motegi, the Secretary-General of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), in Tokyo. Their fruitful conversation focused on strategies to strengthen ties between India and Japan in an uncertain global landscape. Jaishankar appreciated Motegi’s friendship and support for the partnership between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar addressed the Nikkei Forum on the Bharat-Japan partnership, emphasizing the convergence of interests and concerns between the two countries. He stressed the importance of India-Japan ties drawing strength from their collective activities, particularly within the Quad framework.
During his speech, Jaishankar highlighted the evolving nature of the world and the Indo-Pacific region, asserting that Bharat and Japan are well-positioned to provide solutions to regional and global challenges through their partnership. He emphasized the need for Bharat and Japan to approach each other with a focus on addressing new complexities while seizing fresh opportunities.
Jaishankar’s visit to Japan, spanning from March 6-8, underscores the commitment of both countries to deepen their strategic cooperation and enhance bilateral relations. As the world undergoes rapid changes, the partnership between Bharat and Japan remains vital for addressing shared challenges and promoting stability and prosperity in the region.
