Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Friday to discuss the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two nations. During the meeting, Jaishankar conveyed warm greetings from Bharatiya Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kishida, marking the conclusion of his three-day visit to Japan.
In a post on social media platform X, Jaishankar expressed his honor in meeting Japanese PM @kishida230, emphasizing the importance of the visit. He highlighted the ongoing progress in the Foreign Ministers Strategic Dialogue between Bharat and Japan, reflecting their commitment to enhancing their global and special strategic partnership.
Prior to his meeting with PM Kishida, Jaishankar met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who currently serves as the Chairman of the Japan-Bharat Association. Jaishankar commended Suga’s leadership in advancing the bilateral relationship between Bharat and Japan, as well as their collaborative efforts within the Quad, an alliance involving the United States, Bharat, Japan, and Australia.
Expressing his pleasure at the meeting with Suga, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of Suga’s continued support for the endeavors aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and enhancing their cooperation within the Quad framework.
Jaishankar’s visit to Japan coincided with the 16th Bharat-Japan Foreign Minister’s Strategic Dialogue, where discussions centered on various aspects of the bilateral relationship and ways to further deepen cooperation in strategic areas. Before arriving in Japan, Jaishankar also visited South Korea, where he engaged with top leaders during his stay.
The meetings between Jaishankar and Japanese leaders underscored the significance of the Bharat-Japan relationship and the shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in various fields, including security, economy, and technology. As both countries navigate regional and global challenges, such engagements serve to solidify their partnership and contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
