Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where he embarked on a 28-kilometer-long roadshow, accompanied by enthusiastic BJP workers and locals. The roadshow commenced from the airport, where he was greeted by a throng of supporters. During the roadshow, PM Modi made a significant stop at the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer prayers, highlighting the religious and cultural significance of the region. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also joined the Prime Minister during this auspicious occasion.
PM Modi’s visit to Varanasi holds significant political importance as it precedes the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, where he is poised to contest from the Varanasi constituency for the third consecutive time. Having represented Varanasi since 2014, PM Modi has garnered substantial victories in both the 2014 and 2019 elections, surpassing the victory margins of his predecessors.
Dilip Patel, BJP regional chief, disclosed the itinerary of PM Modi’s visit, which includes stops at Atulanand School in Gilat Bazaar and Kabir Chaura along the roadshow route. Furthermore, PM Modi is scheduled to make a night halt at the BLW Guest House in Varanasi before proceeding with his engagements the following day.
On the second day of his visit, PM Modi is set to depart for Azamgarh from Bareka helipad, where he will participate in a public program and inaugurate several development projects worth over ₹42,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, around 2:15 PM, the Prime Minister will engage in a significant event, where he will disburse the first installment under the Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh via video conferencing, demonstrating the government’s commitment to welfare schemes across states.
PM Modi’s visit not only underscores his strong connection with the people of Varanasi but also showcases the BJP’s determination to bolster its presence in Uttar Pradesh, a state critical for national politics.
