Prior to his appointment in Bharat, Ellis served as the Deputy National Security Adviser for the Integrated Review on foreign and security policy. His extensive experience encompasses pivotal roles such as Director General in the Department for Exiting the EU, where he played a crucial role in shaping the UK’s engagement with the European Union.
