CAA Government Notifies Rules for Seeking Citizenship | No Passport, No Visa: Rules
In a major historical development, the Narendra Modi-led government notified the rules implementing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) on Monday night. The act, passed in 2019, allows Hindus, Buddhists, Parsis, Jains, and Christians who were religiously persecuted in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan; and entered India before December 31, 2014, either legally or illegally for shelter; to seek Indian citizenship. The new rules notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs made it easy for individuals seeking citizenship as it does not mandate producing a valid passport of these countries or a valid visa from India.
