The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has revealed its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. With eight candidates in total, the party is eyeing significant representation in the state. Among these candidates, five cabinet ministers from Punjab have been nominated, indicating a strong push from the AAP to secure key seats in the region.

One of the notable names in the list is Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, who has been selected to contest from the Sangrur constituency. Sangrur was previously represented by the current Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann. This selection underscores AAP’s strategy to field experienced leaders in crucial constituencies.

The remaining seven candidates announced by AAP are Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal for Amritsar, Laljit Singh Bhullar for Khadoor Sahib, Sushil Kumar Rinku for Jalandhar, Gurpreet Singh SP for Fatehgarh Sahib, Karamjeet Anmol for Faridkot, Gurmeet Singh Khudian for Bathinda, and Dr. Balbir Singh for Patiala. Each candidate brings a unique set of experiences and skills to their respective constituencies.

An interesting addition to AAP’s roster is Gurpreet Singh GP, a former Congress MLA from Bassi Pathana, who recently joined the party. This move signals a shift in political allegiance and showcases AAP’s growing influence in Punjab’s political landscape.

Meet Hayer’s inclusion in the list comes after a recent setback in his ministerial roles. In a cabinet reshuffle last November, he lost four departments, including the crucial portfolio of mines and geology. Currently, he retains the sports and youth services department, and his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections indicates AAP’s confidence in his leadership despite the challenges he faced.

AAP’s decision to field cabinet ministers and experienced politicians reflects its ambition to secure a substantial presence in Punjab ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. With a diverse range of candidates and strategic nominations, the party aims to make significant strides in the region’s political arena. As the election season unfolds, all eyes will be on AAP and its candidates as they vie for victory in Punjab.
