Rajasthan Royals started the Indian Premier League banter moments as on Sunday, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the Women’s Premier League trophy in New Delhi.
The former IPL champions took to social media to share a post, congratulating Smriti Mandhana’s team for ending Royal Challengers Bangalore’s long title wait.
On Sunday, Smriti Mandhana’s RCB defeated Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 final at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital.
RCB restricted Delhi to just 113 in 18.3 overs after young Shreyanka Patil’s 4-wicket haul and Sophie Molineux’s sensational over in which she picked up 3 wickets and broke the back of their batting order.
RCB rode on a calm and composed Ellyse Perry to get the job done with the bat and lift their maiden title.
Captain Smriti Mandhana and fellow opener Sophie Devine gave RCB a strong start before Perry and Richa Ghosh finished things off. Rajasthan Royals, who won the IPL title in the inaugural edition under late Shane Warne’s captaincy, took a cheeky dig at the RCB men’s team for not having been able to win the title over the last 16 years in the IPL, highlighting how the women’s team did it only in their second year of existence.
