On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to portraits of victims of the 1998 blasts in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu which killed 58 people as he held a roadshow in the southern city.
Modi held the roadshow near Saibaba temple in Mettupalayam Road to RS Puram. People on both sides of the road, showered flower petals on him and chanted slogans hailing him.
Traditional music was played to welcome him and many of them danced and waved at him enthusiastically. Modi wore a white kurta with a colourful BJP shawl and often raised both his hands to wave at people.
Modi’s vehicle slowly made its way all along the 2.5 km route while people followed him on the service lanes. PM Modi is on the first day of his two-day visit to the state and this is sixth visit since January.
Tamil Nadu goes to polls in the first phase on April 19 and nominations will start on March 20. Modi will be in Salem district on March 19.
