Today in Court | SC Refused to Impose Ban on CAA | Ritam English
The Supreme Court, while hearing 237 petitions against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Tuesday, rejected any injunction against it. The court has asked the central government to respond to the petitions within three weeks. The bench comprising Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice DY Chandrachud, and Justice L Nageswara Rao posed queries to the government regarding the time required for a response to the petition seeking a stay on the notification. The Solicitor General representing the government sought four weeks, but the bench granted three weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for April 9.
