Meghalaya’s UDP faces major jolt as key leaders join NEDA ally NPP in Ri Bhoi

Meghalaya’s Regional United Democratic Party or UDP in Ri Bhoi district faced a major jolt as many significant leaders decided to quit the party. The move disrupted party’s preparations ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Meghalaya’s Regional United Democratic Party or UDP in Ri Bhoi district faced a major jolt as many significant leaders decided to quit the party. The move disrupted party’s preparations ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma leads the NPP, which is an ally of the North East Democratic Alliance or NEDA and supports Bharatiya Janata Party-BJP.

Meghalaya’s Regional United Democratic Party or UDP in Ri Bhoi district faced a major jolt as many significant leaders decided to quit the party. The move disrupted party’s preparations ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma leads the NPP, which is an ally of the North East Democratic Alliance or NEDA and supports Bharatiya Janata Party-BJP.

As per UDP State Wing and Ri Bhoi District Unit working president Donbok Khymdeit, numerous top UDP party leaders, including the parent body, Youth Wings, Women Wings, and leaders, will quit the oldest regional party, UDP.

He further mentioned the defectors’ decision was based on their own will and understanding and they haven’t faced any issues or inconveniences with the UDP party.

UDP Ri Bhoi District outgoing president Khymdeit, along with former UDP Nongpoh MDC Rona Khyndeit, and many other leaders, will be welcomed into the NPP fold in a meeting at Nongpoh’s Sajer on Friday.

The list of the outgoing leaders and party workers includes:

2. Bah Raphael Massar – Chief Adviser UDP Ri Bhoi District
3. Bah Rangkynsai R Makdoh – Adviser UDP Ri Bhoi District
4. Kong Queen Mary Rymbai – Joint Secretary UDP Women’s Wing State
5. Bah Biolkingstar Tmung – Auditor UDP Ri Bhoi District
6. Bah Watson Kharkrang – President UDP YW Umsning Circle
7. Bah Jeffrey Khymdeit – Joint Secretary UDP YW State
8. Bah Prosper Dorphang – Secretary UDP YW Ri Bhoi District
9. Bah Rajes Lapang – Working President UDP YW, Ri Bhoi District
10. Bah Richard Moksha – Vice President UDP YW, Ri Bhoi District
11. Bah Kitdorius Dkhar – Vice President UDP YW Ri Bhoi District
12. Bah Johny Marbaniang – Finance Secretary UDP YW Ri Bhoi District
13. Bah Pril Sten – Sports Secretary UDP YW Ri Bhoi District
