Stefanie Lambert, an attorney who had sued to overturn former President Donald Trump’s 2020 loss in Michigan, was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond. Lambert had turned herself in on Thursday after being arrested in Washington, D.C., due to an outstanding warrant issued by a Michigan judge.
The arrest stems from felony charges related to improperly accessing voting equipment in search of evidence of election fraud. Lambert failed to appear at a hearing on March 7, prompting the warrant for her arrest.
During her appearance in Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Jeffery Matis ordered Lambert to be taken into custody for fingerprinting and DNA sampling. After posting the bond, Lambert was released from jail.
Prosecutors argued that Lambert’s actions had disrupted the case significantly, causing delays and hindrances. Other individuals, including former state GOP Rep. Daire Rendon and Matthew DePerno, are also facing charges in connection to the case.
Lambert’s lawyer, Dan Hartman, attributed her missed court appearance to a breakdown in communication with her former attorney. Lambert herself denied missing any court date and expressed frustration over the legal proceedings, calling them intrusive and unnecessary.
A pre-trial hearing for Lambert’s case is scheduled for March 28.
Lambert’s arrest in Washington, D.C., was related to another legal matter involving the leaking of internal emails from Dominion Voting Systems. She was released on an unsecured $10,000 bond after her lawyer assured the court of her willingness to return to Michigan to face the warrant.
