In response to the Aam Aadmi Party’s statement suggesting that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would govern from jail, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delivered a vehement reaction on Saturday morning, dismissing the notion, stating only “gangs” operate from behind bars.
BJP Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari asserted that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal has been met with jubilation among the people of Delhi. Tiwari alleged that Kejriwal, the AAP chief, had plunged the national capital into distress through his actions.
“He has devoted himself to bringing Delhi to the brink of misery. The citizens of Delhi are extremely disgruntled with him, which is why sweets were distributed following his arrest. His administration has failed to deliver any substantial progress in Delhi; instead, they have engaged in looting and self-enrichment. Kejriwal has plundered Delhi,” Tiwari stated to ANI.
Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday night in connection with the liquor policy case marks him as the first incumbent chief minister to face imprisonment.
Despite this, AAP affirmed on Friday that Arvind Kejriwal would persist as the chief minister and continue to govern from jail. However, the BJP promptly called for Kejriwal’s resignation on ethical grounds.
“Those who repeatedly claim they will govern from jail should remember, jails are meant for housing gangs, not governments,” Tiwari emphasized. Additionally, BJP leader Sambit Patra declared that Kejriwal is facing consequences for his alleged corruption.
“Corruption has reached its zenith. It’s inevitable that when one engages in corruption, they will face repercussions. Arvind Kejriwal and his associates pursued legal avenues from Rouse Avenue Court to Delhi High Court to Supreme Court, yet they received no respite. They even approached the Supreme Court, only to retract their plea. Yesterday, a lower court remanded him,” Patra remarked.
