Days after the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a Delhi liquor policy case, alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar has made startling claims. Chandrashekhar, who is currently under arrest in Tihar Jail for an alleged ₹200-crore money laundering case, has threatened to expose Kejriwal and his team. Speaking to reporters as he was being produced in court, Chandrashekhar declared his intention to become an approver against the Delhi Chief Minister. He asserted, “I will become an approver against Kejriwal and his team. I will expose him. I will make sure he is brought to task.”
When questioned about the evidence he possesses against CM Kejriwal, Chandrashekhar claimed that all the evidence has been provided. He expressed confidence in the truth prevailing and welcomed Kejriwal to Tihar jail.
In a separate development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was remanded to the custody of the Enforcement Directorate for seven days, until March 28. This decision was made by Special CBI judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court. Kejriwal’s arrest came on March 21 by the central probe agency in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case, which is linked to a money laundering investigation. The case revolves around alleged irregularities and money laundering in the framing and implementation of the Delhi excise policy in 2022, which was subsequently scrapped.
The arrest of Chief Minister Kejriwal has sparked criticism against the BJP-led central government from opposition leaders. Many have questioned the timing and motives behind the arrest, especially given the ongoing political tensions in the region.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar, known for his involvement in various fraud cases, was arrested in October 2019 in connection with alleged cheating and extortion from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Religare Enterprises promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. Chandrashekhar and his associates purportedly posed as government officials and promised to secure bail for Singh. Chandrashekhar reportedly convinced Aditi to transfer money by impersonating a central government official over a spoof call while he was in Rohini jail. Both Chandrashekhar and his actor wife, Leena Maria Paul, were arrested last year by the Delhi Police for their alleged roles in the scam.
The unfolding drama surrounding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the threats made by Sukesh Chandrashekhar signal a new chapter in the political landscape of Delhi, with potential far-reaching implications for the region’s governance and accountability.
