Former Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Rakesh Singh Bhadauria and ex-YSR Congress Party MP Varaprasad Rao have officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. They made their move during a ceremony attended by BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde and Union Minister Anurag Thakur.
Rakesh Singh Bhadauria, who retired from the IAF in September 2021, expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership for allowing him to contribute to the nation once again. During his tenure, he highlighted the positive impact of the BJP government’s efforts in empowering and modernizing the armed forces, emphasizing the newfound confidence within the defense sector.
Bhadauria, known for his Rajput background, hails from Korath village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He served in the IAF for over four decades, rising to the position of Air Force Chief before retiring in 2021. Tawde commended Bhadauria’s extensive service and anticipated his active involvement in politics following his distinguished career in the defense forces.
In addition to Bhadauria, Varaprasad Rao, a former YSR Congress Party MP, also joined the BJP, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a dynamic leader. Rao highlighted Modi’s decisive leadership and the BJP’s efforts in reforming governance and promoting development, particularly in rural areas and for marginalized communities.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur welcomed both Bhadauria and Rao into the BJP fold, emphasizing that a prosperous and secure India is only achievable under Narendra Modi’s leadership. Thakur credited the Modi government for fulfilling long-standing demands such as ‘One Rank, One Pension’ for armed forces veterans, the abrogation of Article 370, and enhancing internal security measures.
The move of Bhadauria and Rao to join the BJP underscores the party’s continued efforts to expand its political reach and strengthen its roster with individuals possessing diverse backgrounds and expertise. Their entry into the BJP ranks is expected to bolster the party’s campaign ahead of the upcoming elections, leveraging their respective experiences and endorsements of the Modi government’s policies and initiatives.
