It will be a battle of the wits between two new captains, Shubham Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad when defending champions Chennai Super Kings face Gujarat Titans in an Indian Premier League match on Tuesday.
Both openers will face off in a fight for tactical superiority as CSK and GT aim to build on their recent victories. While Gaikwad took over as captain after the Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down on the eve of CSK’s opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gill had a little more time to prepare for his new role after Hardik Pandya left the Titans in November of last year.
Gill is the IPL’s youngest captain, but he demonstrated his leadership abilities against MI. Gill’s position is made slightly simpler by the presence of head coach Ashish Nehra, who possesses a tactically brilliant mind, the seasoned David Miller, and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
On the other hand, Gaikwad shined on his captaincy debut under the mentorship of the legendary Dhoni as CSK cruised to a six-wicket victory over RCB.
