Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, recently concluded his visit to Malaysia, marking the final leg of his three-nation tour. During his stay from March 27 to 28, he engaged in significant discussions aimed at bolstering the bilateral Enhanced Strategic Partnership between Bharat and Malaysia, as per an official statement released on Thursday.
One of the highlights of Jaishankar’s visit was his meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Bin Ibrahim. Expressing gratitude for Malaysia’s support in enhancing bilateral relations, Jaishankar reiterated Bharat’s commitment to further develop the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Anwar pledged to facilitate the establishment of an Indian Institute of Technology branch campus in Malaysia, signaling a tangible step towards strengthening educational ties between the two countries. He also expressed appreciation for Bharat’s assistance during Malaysia’s rice shortage and hoped for continued cooperation in agricultural imports.

Apart from his meeting with Prime Minister Anwar, Jaishankar held fruitful discussions with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan. The talks encompassed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, spanning political, trade, economic, defense, digital, cultural, and educational domains.
Additionally, Jaishankar engaged in a round-table meeting with industry CEOs and leaders, reflecting Bharat’s interest in fostering economic collaboration and exploring business opportunities in Malaysia.
