In a devastating incident on the Jammu-Srinagar highway near Battery Chashma in the Ramban area, ten individuals lost their lives when a passenger cab met with a tragic accident. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, around 1:15 am, as the vehicle was en route from Srinagar to Jammu.
According to officials, the vehicle plunged into a gorge, resulting in the loss of ten precious lives. Among the deceased were the car’s driver, Balwan Singh (47), hailing from Amb Ghrotha in Jammu, and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang from West Champaran in Bihar.

Upon receiving the distressing news, a coordinated rescue effort was swiftly initiated. A team comprising local police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the civil Quick Response Team (QRT) of Ramban rushed to the scene to undertake rescue operations amidst challenging conditions exacerbated by heavy rains.
Despite the adverse weather, the bodies of all the deceased were successfully recovered, marking the culmination of a harrowing rescue effort. The tragic incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the region, highlighting the importance of road safety measures and the need for heightened vigilance during adverse weather conditions.
As the community mourns the loss of lives, authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident and implement measures aimed at preventing similar tragedies in the future.
