Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President, Virendraa Sachdeva, took a dig at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the latter’s judicial custody until April 15, as decreed by the Rouse Avenue court on Monday. This decision came after Kejriwal was under the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) scrutiny concerning a money-laundering case linked to an alleged liquor excise policy scam.
Sachdeva, in a video statement reported by news agency ANI, remarked, “Today, liquor scam accused Arvind Kejriwal is sent to 15 days judicial custody. Now, he cannot claim his honesty.” He further emphasized that the purported liquor excise policy scam had adverse effects on the youth of Delhi, implying that it led them towards addiction.

Expressing hope in the vigilance of Delhi’s populace, Sachdeva stated, “We believe that this scam pushed the youth of Delhi into addiction… I hope the people of Delhi will watch those who looted Delhi.”
The Delhi court’s decision followed the culmination of Kejriwal’s custodial remand by the ED. Last week, on Thursday, the court had extended his custody till April 1 in connection with the aforementioned money-laundering case associated with the alleged liquor excise policy scam.
Post the court’s ruling, Kejriwal has been transferred to Tihar Jail, where he is set to be lodged in Jail number 2, as reported by news agency ANI.
The arrest of Kejriwal has incited protests among Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers and leaders. With AAP being part of the INDIA bloc, opposition parties have rallied, alleging misuse of investigative agencies like the ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to suppress the voices of political leaders.
