On Tuesday, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a second consecutive defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
It was their third overall in four games which has kept them in the 9th position of the points table.
It was yet another encounter that exposed their bowling attack. On the contrary, the only highlight of RCB has been Virat Kohli who continues to showcase his prowess with the bat.
Similar to his previous two outings, Kohli got the desired start as RCB chased 182 at Chinnaswamy Stadium. He fired 22 off 16 deliveries, with the help of 2 boundaries and one six, before becoming the maiden victim of left-arm spinner M Siddharth. Only Rajat Patidar (29) and Mahipal Lomror (33) could score more than Kohli as RCB were bundled out for 153 in the chase with 2 balls to spare.
Kohli’s 22 took his run tally beyond the 200 mark, winning the Orange Cap again. On Monday, he had lost it to Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag whose second consecutive fifty drove his team to a third straight win in the ongoing season. A day later, Kohli took it back with a total of 203 runs, at an average of 67 and a strike rate of close to 141. Parag is now second on the run-scorers tally with 181 runs. SRH wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klassen is standing third with 167 runs in three games.
