On Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief, VD Sharma, submitted his nomination papers for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. This significant event took place at the Panna collector office. Notable political figures, including Union Minister Smriti Irani, state cabinet minister Prahlad Singh Patel, and BJP MLAs Brijendra Pratap Singh and Sanjay Pathak, graced the occasion with their presence.
Expressing confidence in Sharma’s candidacy, Minister Irani highlighted the absence of Congress competition in the Khajuraho constituency. She remarked, “Congress has accepted its defeat even before voting in this Lok Sabha seat. This is the reason Congress is not contesting from this seat.”
CM Yadav Asserts BJP’s Strength
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav lauded BJP’s strong presence in the Khajuraho constituency, emphasizing the withdrawal of Congress from the electoral race. “I am happy that as soon as BJP announced its candidate from Khajuraho, Congress people left the field and were not able to find a candidate,” CM Yadav stated confidently.
He further criticized the indecision within the opposition ranks, noting the Samajwadi Party’s (SP) struggle to finalize its candidate. “Seeing its defeat, Congress handed over this seat to the Samajwadi party (SP). Even the SP is also not able to decide its candidate from here,” CM Yadav added.
SP’s Nomination Drama
Khajuraho, the only constituency in Madhya Pradesh assigned to the Samajwadi Party, witnessed a series of changes in its candidate lineup. Initially, SP fielded Manoj Yadav for the Lok Sabha seat, only to replace him later with Meera Deepak.
