Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is opening its doors to international students for undergraduate programs in the upcoming academic year. Unlike local applicants, international students are exempt from taking the Common Universities Entrance Test CUET (UG)-2024 examination. The deadline for application submission is set for April 26. Interested foreign nationals can apply from their home countries using a separate application form available for download on the university’s official website.
However, there’s a slight twist for foreign nationals already residing in Bharat. They will need to sit for the Common Universities Entrance Test (CUET)-2024 examination, just like their Bharatiya counterparts. This ensures a fair and standardized assessment process for all applicants.
JNU offers an array of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, totaling around 10 UG and 34 PG programs. With a generous number of seats available, the university is offering a total of 342 UG and 1,025 PG seats across various schools and disciplines. Among the programs, JNU is particularly known for its UG and COP (Certificate of Proficiency) Programs, such as B.A. (Hons.) in Foreign Languages, B.Sc. Programme in Ayurveda Biology, and Certificate of Proficiency programs.
Recognized for its academic excellence, JNU has consistently performed well in national rankings. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework Survey 2023, JNU secured the second position among universities for the second consecutive year. Impressively, it also ranked 10th in the overall category of institutions with a commendable score of 68.92.
Jawaharlal Nehru University has earned global recognition as a premier institution for research and education. In previous years, it achieved significant milestones in national rankings. In 2016, it was placed third among all Indian institutions by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Government of India, and climbed to second place in 2017. Additionally, the university attained the top spot in the country by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), boasting an impressive Grade Point average of 3.91 out of 4. Notably, the President of India awarded JNU the prestigious 2017 Best University Award, cementing its reputation as a beacon of academic excellence in the nation.
