Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently took a swipe at the Congress party’s manifesto ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He criticized the Congress for promising justice in its manifesto despite having ruled the country for 55 years. Saini emphasized that people now place their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances rather than those of the Congress.
He highlighted the BJP’s ambitious goal of securing 400 seats in the elections and expressed confidence in surpassing this target. Saini remarked on the lack of faith in the Congress’s guarantees among the populace, contrasting it with the trust placed in Modi’s leadership.
The Congress party unveiled its manifesto for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, focusing on the ‘Paanch Nyay’ or five pillars of justice. Key promises include 50% reservation for women in government jobs, student loan waivers, distribution of mobile phones to students, and the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Additionally, the manifesto pledges to conduct a socio-economic and caste census nationwide, along with raising the cap on reservations for SC, ST, and OBC communities through constitutional amendments. It also outlines initiatives under ‘Yuva Nyay’, ‘Naari Nyay’, ‘Kisaan Nyay’, ‘Shramik Nyay’, and ‘Hissedari Nyay’ to address various societal issues.
Saini urged farmers to reconsider their opposition to BJP candidates, highlighting the government’s efforts in their favor. He emphasized that the BJP has implemented significant policies benefiting farmers and reiterated that the Congress cannot match these efforts.
The CM made these remarks during a public meeting held in support of BJP candidate Ashok Tanwar in the Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency. Health Minister Kamal Gupta, addressing the gathering, echoed the BJP’s electoral aspirations, including territorial claims over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin.
The Lok Sabha elections for the 10 parliamentary constituencies of Haryana are scheduled to be held in a single phase on May 25. In the 2014 elections, the BJP secured 7 seats, the INLD won 2, and the INC managed only 1. However, in the 2019 elections, the BJP swept all 10 seats, emerging as the dominant political force in the state.
