IMD Forecasts Rain in Some Regions and Continued Heatwave in Others

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued predictions indicating significant weather patterns across different regions of Bharat. In the southern and northern parts, a heatwave is expected to prevail, while northeastern states might experience isolated heavy rainfall.

Rain Prediction

  • Northeastern States: Arunachal Pradesh is anticipated to experience widespread rainfall or snowfall along with thunderstorms, with heavy precipitation expected on Saturday. Meanwhile, Assam and Meghalaya might witness scattered to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy showers until Saturday.

 

  • Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha: Isolated rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in Jharkhand and Bihar until April 9, and in Odisha on Sunday and Monday, with isolated heavy rainfall predicted.

 

  • Hailstorms: East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, and Vidarbha are likely to experience hailstorms on Sunday and Monday, with Madhya Maharashtra also expecting hail on Monday.

 

  • Thunderstorms: From Saturday to April 11, thunderstorms are expected in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Telangana.

 

Heatwave Situation

  • Odisha: Temperatures above 40°C are forecasted in many parts until Saturday, with some areas experiencing a rise of 3-5°C above normal.

 

  • Bihar: Nine districts recorded temperatures over 40°C, with Buxar topping the list at 42.2°C.

 

  • Andhra Pradesh: The State Disaster Management Authority warns of a heatwave in 130 mandals, with severe conditions in one mandal. Vizianagaram and Nandyala districts are among the most affected areas.

 

  • Other Regions: Maximum temperatures ranging from 40-42°C were observed in various regions, including Vidarbha, Telangana, and Rayalaseema, with departures of 3-4°C above normal. Areas like north Uttar Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, and Kerala witnessed maximum temperatures exceeding the 98th percentile.

Forecast for Next Five Days

  • Heatwave Conditions: IMD forecasts heatwave conditions in isolated areas of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Telangana on Saturday. Warm night conditions are expected in isolated pockets of several states.

 

  • Hot and Humid Weather: Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry will experience hot and humid weather from Friday until April 9. Coastal Karnataka and Konkan & Goa will experience it on Saturday, Telangana on Sunday, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Rayalaseema from Sunday until April 9.

As per the IMD’s predictions, citizens in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during these weather conditions.
