Hezbollah, an armed group in Lebanon, was targeted by Israeli air strikes in the Bekaa Valley, eastern Lebanon. The strikes came shortly after an Israeli drone was shot down over Lebanese territory, according to Lebanese security sources.
The air strikes reportedly hit a training camp belonging to Hezbollah in the Janta village, near the border with Syria. Additionally, one of the strikes targeted the town of Safri, close to the eastern city of Baalbek.
Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have escalated since October 8, following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Israel. This has resulted in ongoing exchanges of fire along Lebanon’s southern border.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for shooting down the Israeli drone, identifying it as a Hermez 900 belonging to the Israeli army. The group is backed by Iran and has been involved in conflicts with Israel for years.
