Today, in a mega rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed an enthusiastic crowd, posing direct questions to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the party’s historical contributions to the State.
“I want to ask Rahul baba, what have you done for Assam? From the time of your Grandmother (Indira Gandhi), what have you done for Assam?” quizzed Shah, stressing upon the need for accountability and concrete outcome in Assam’s development.
Shah accentuated the BJP government’s efforts in curbing influx into Assam, a pivotal concern for the region. “The BJP government has stopped the influx in Assam,” Shah asserted, showing the administration’s proactive measures in addressing critical issues.
Attracting attention to cultural recognition, Shah reminded the audience of Bhupen Hazarika’s posthumous award of the Bharat Ratna, a prestigious honour bestowed during the BJP’s tenure. He hit out at the Congress for allegedly neglecting Assam’s legends and failing to honour their contributions adequately.
Shah criticised the Congress party for neglecting its duties towards Assam, especially in terms of ensuring equitable development and justice for the Northeastern State. He compared this with the BJP’s track record of leading significant developmental projects and bringing about transformative changes under PM Modi’s leadership.
Moreover, in the run-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Shah presented voters with two choices. He continued, “You will have to decide on April 19 as to who will be your MP, which party will form the government and who shall be the next PM. You have two options. One is the INDI alliance under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and on the other side you have BJP under Narendra Modi’s leadership…”
Shah urged the people to support and elect Narendra Modi for a third term as Prime Minister, citing the BJP’s vision and accomplishments as crucial factors in securing Assam’s prosperity and progress.
