In a recent public address in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi aimed at the Congress, emphasizing that the wounds of the 1984 Sikh riots won’t be forgotten. He asserted the BJP’s solidarity with the Sikh community, underscoring its commitment to respecting their sentiments.
Modi accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) of obstructing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) due to their appeasement policies. He highlighted that the CAA aims to offer refuge to Hindus and Sikhs fleeing persecution abroad, asserting that such individuals deserve citizenship.
Furthermore, Modi invoked Sikh Gurus, pledging support for the community and emphasizing BJP’s efforts to facilitate pilgrimages through the Kartarpur corridor, exempting langar items from GST, and honoring Sikh bravery through events like Veer Bal Diwas.
While addressing the rally, Modi reiterated BJP’s dedication to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, criticizing opposition parties for their alleged disdain towards Lord Rama and their attempts to impede the temple’s construction through legal challenges.
On the occasion of Chaitra Navratri, Modi warned against Congress’ purported efforts to undermine the nation’s strength and cultural heritage, urging voters not to forget the party’s actions.
Highlighting the BJP government’s achievements, Modi touted India’s economic growth, successful space missions like Chandrayaan, and diplomatic successes such as hosting the G-20 Summit and aiding other nations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Modi also underscored developmental initiatives in Pilibhit, including agricultural reforms, support for sugarcane farmers, and the promotion of eco-tourism through the tiger reserve.
Despite the absence of BJP stalwarts like Varun Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi from the rally, Modi rallied support for the party’s candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, urging voters to endorse BJP’s vision for a prosperous and united India.
