In the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, the political landscape in West Bengal has once again been marred by the disruptive and anti-democratic antics of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers and leaders. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent baseless allegations against the BJP only serve to highlight the depths to which TMC stoops in its desperate bid to cling to power.
Banerjee’s outrageous claims, accusing the BJP of inciting riots, are not only unfounded but also hypocritical, given TMC’s own history of orchestrating violence and chaos during elections. Her remarks reek of political opportunism, aimed at deflecting attention from the rampant corruption and mismanagement that have plagued her regime.
The TMC’s history of violence is etched in blood, with incidents like the Panchayat elections in July 2023, where lives were lost in a gruesome display of power struggle. Instead of upholding democratic values, the TMC indulged in barbarism, blaming the opposition for their own misdeeds. Such hypocrisy knows no bounds.
Even during religious festivities like Ram Navami, TMC’s goons have unleashed terror, as witnessed in the Dalkhola incident of March 30, 2023. The NIA’s involvement was necessitated due to the TMC’s blatant obstruction of justice, epitomizing their disdain for law and order. TMC’s leaders not only incite violence but also manipulate law enforcement agencies to serve their vested interests.
The recent altercation between TMC and BJP workers in Durgapur paints a vivid picture of TMC’s thuggery ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Instead of fostering a peaceful democratic environment, TMC resorts to brute force to silence dissent. BJP MP Dilip Ghosh’s visit became a battleground, showcasing TMC’s intolerance towards opposing voices.

Moreover, TMC’s leaders shamelessly exploit their positions to harass and manipulate common people. The recent protest outside the Election Commission of India office in Delhi, where TMC leaders demanded changes in the heads of investigative agencies, reeks of political vendetta. Their disregard for democratic norms is appalling.
Sandeshkhali’s women, bravely protesting against TMC’s atrocities, bear witness to the party’s heinous crimes. From sexual assaults to land grabbing, TMC’s leaders operate with impunity, preying on the vulnerable without remorse. Such acts of barbarism are not isolated incidents but a systemic rot within TMC’s ranks.
It is evident that the TMC leadership, including sitting MPs and party stalwarts, have weaponized their positions of power to manipulate and harass ordinary citizens. The saga of women in Sandeshkhali, who have endured unspeakable atrocities at the hands of TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh and his cohorts, serves as a chilling reminder of the pervasive culture of fear and intimidation that grips the state under TMC leadership.
The TMC’s brazen obstruction of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) further exposes its disdain for the rule of law. Instead of cooperating with a legitimate investigation, TMC workers have resorted to intimidation tactics, hindering the NIA’s efforts to uncover the truth. This blatant disregard for due process undermines the very foundations of democracy and underscores TMC’s authoritarian tendencies.
Moreover, the recent standoff between TMC leaders and the Delhi Police underscores the party’s penchant for drama and theatrics. By staging protests and resorting to petty tactics, TMC seeks to portray itself as a victim while conveniently sidestepping accountability for its own transgressions. The detention of TMC leaders outside the Election Commission of India (ECI) office is just the latest example of TMC’s penchant for flouting the law to suit its own agenda.
The repeated instances of violence and rioting instigated by TMC during past elections serve as a chilling reminder of the party’s disregard for democratic norms. From attacking political opponents to intimidating voters, TMC has consistently employed thuggery and coercion to maintain its stranglehold on power. The chaos unleashed by TMC goons not only undermines the electoral process but also poses a grave threat to the safety and security of citizens.
Furthermore, the TMC’s stronghold over the Kolkata Police has enabled it to manipulate law enforcement agencies for its own nefarious ends. Instead of upholding law and order impartially, Kolkata Police have often been complicit in TMC’s acts of violence and intimidation, further eroding public trust in the state machinery.
In stark contrast, the BJP emerges as a beacon of hope for West Bengal, championing the cause of democracy and accountability. With its unwavering commitment to justice and transparency, the BJP offers a viable alternative to the culture of fear and impunity perpetuated by TMC. By standing up to TMC’s bully tactics and exposing its corrupt practices, the BJP embodies the principles of good governance and inclusive development.
As the people of West Bengal gear up to exercise their democratic right in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, it is imperative that they reject the politics of division and chaos peddled by TMC. Instead, they must embrace the vision of progress and prosperity championed by the BJP, paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for the state.
