In a significant development, a Delhi court has remanded BRS leader K Kavitha to the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) until April 15. This decision comes in connection with a corruption case linked to the Delhi excise policy of 2021-22. Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was arrested on Thursday while she was already in Tihar Jail following her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The CBI sought a five-day custody for Kavitha, informing the court of Special Judge Kaveri Baweja that the accused was not cooperating with the investigation. According to the probe agency, Kavitha was being evasive in her responses, which hindered the progress of the inquiry into the corruption allegations.
This development marks a significant turn in the ongoing investigation into the corruption case surrounding the Delhi excise policy of 2021-22. Kavitha’s arrest and subsequent remand to CBI custody underscore the seriousness of the allegations leveled against her and the importance of a thorough and comprehensive investigation.
The case has garnered widespread attention due to Kavitha’s political lineage as the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Her arrest and subsequent custody by the CBI have raised eyebrows in political circles, prompting discussions about the implications of such high-profile individuals being implicated in corruption cases.
