In a recent development, Lebanon-based Hezbollah, known for its resistance against Israeli actions, reportedly launched multiple missiles targeting Northern Israel. The move, following Hamas’ assault last October, aims to challenge Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. According to reports, sirens blared as rockets were launched and intercepted, with debris falling during the incident.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the rocket barrage on the Galilee Panhandle, stating that Katyusha rockets targeted IDF artillery positions. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties or injuries thus far. This escalation occurs amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, triggered by Israeli strikes on the Iranian embassy in Syria, drawing a stern response from Tehran.
Israeli Defense Forces have stated that nearly 40 rockets were launched from Lebanon towards northern Israel, with some successfully intercepted. However, others landed in open areas or within Lebanese territory.
Prior to this incident, the IDF thwarted two drones carrying explosives launched by Hezbollah towards northern Israel. Reports indicate that IDF targeted buildings used by the militant group in southern Lebanon’s Ayta ash-Shab. IDF Spokesman Rear Adm Daniel Hagari emphasized the importance of tight coordination, particularly with the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) head Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, in assessing the threat of Iranian attacks on Israel.
Regarding updates for civilians, Hagari assured that any changes in the situation would be promptly communicated to the public.
