Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy faced a stone-pelting attack during his ‘Memantha Siddham’ bus yatra in Vijayawada. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern, wishing CM Jagan a speedy recovery and good health.
The attack left CM Jagan with a deep gash under his eyebrow. According to sources, an unidentified individual hurled a stone at him, causing an external injury on his left eyebrow. Immediate first-aid was administered to the Chief Minister on the bus, after which he continued his journey.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader KK Raju led a protest against the attack, alleging involvement of opposition parties. Raju, along with hundreds of supporters, condemned the incident and accused the TDP, BJP, and Jana Sena Party of orchestrating the attack.
State IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath also condemned the attack, denouncing the violence against CM Jagan Reddy during the ‘Memantha Siddham’ roadshow.
The ruling YSRCP has accused the TDP and its allies of being behind the attack, claiming it was a deliberate attempt to harm CM Jagan. They have criticized the opposition’s alleged involvement and vowed to continue their fight against such violence.
The TDP, BJP, and Jana Sena Party had earlier announced a joint contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. The state is gearing up for simultaneous elections on May 13, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
To secure a majority in the state assembly, a party needs to win at least 88 out of 175 seats. With tensions rising ahead of the elections, the incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about political violence in the region.
