A tragic incident unfolded in Vancouver, Canada, where a 24-year-old student from Haryana, Chirag Antil, was fatally shot inside an Audi car on April 12. The Vancouver Police, responding to reports of gunshots from residents, discovered Chirag’s lifeless body in the vehicle. As investigations commence, no arrests have been made yet, leaving the circumstances surrounding the shooting shrouded in mystery.

Chirag Antil embarked on a journey from Sonipat, Haryana, to Vancouver in 2022 with aspirations to pursue an MBA. Having successfully obtained his degree, he was actively engaged in employment before this unfortunate incident abruptly ended his life.

The devastating news has left Chirag’s family reeling with grief and seeking justice. His brother, Ronit, recounted their last conversation, highlighting Chirag’s apparent happiness just moments before his untimely demise. Despite continuous communication with law enforcement, the family remains in the dark about the details surrounding the shooting, prompting them to appeal to Indian authorities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, for swift action and assistance in repatriating Chirag’s remains for funeral rites.

In their time of mourning, the Antil family finds solace in staying connected with Chirag’s friends, grasping onto any semblance of support amidst their profound loss.

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver expressed deep sorrow over Chirag Antil’s tragic death in a poignant post on social media platform X. Affirming their commitment to seek clarity on the matter, they have initiated communication with Canadian authorities in pursuit of comprehensive information regarding the incident.

As the investigation unfolds, the global Bharatiya community stands united in solidarity with Chirag Antil’s family, fervently advocating for justice and accountability in the face of this senseless act of violence.
