In a bid to woo voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed the BJP’s manifesto, outlining ambitious plans for the country’s transportation infrastructure. The manifesto pledges to launch three new bullet train projects and expand the Vande Bharat train service across the nation.

Addressing the public in the national capital, PM Modi announced plans to introduce three different models of Vande Bharat trains: Sleeper, Chair Car, and Metro. These trains are envisioned to cater to diverse travel needs and will be deployed to connect every corner of the country, enhancing accessibility and connectivity.

Highlighting the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects, PM Modi emphasized the nearing completion of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project. Additionally, he disclosed plans to initiate three new bullet train projects in Northern, Southern, and Eastern Bharat, aiming to modernize and revolutionize the country’s railway network. Survey work for these projects is slated to commence soon.

The BJP’s election manifesto also includes promises of implementing the Uniform Civil Code and advocating for ‘One Nation, One Election’. Citing Article 44 of the Constitution, which advocates for a Uniform Civil Code, the party reiterated its commitment to gender equality and women’s rights by advocating for a code that aligns with modern principles while respecting traditional values.

Furthermore, PM Modi announced the extension of the free ration scheme for the next five years, ensuring food security for vulnerable sections of society. The manifesto also pledges to grant citizenship to eligible individuals under the Citizenship Amendment Act, a move that has sparked nationwide debates and protests since its passage in December 2019.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, envisaged as Bharat’s first high-speed rail corridor, remains a focal point of the government’s infrastructure agenda. With an anticipated completion date of June-July 2026, the project has achieved significant progress, standing at 40% completion as of January 2024. The corridor, spanning 508 kilometers, is designed to have limited stops, prioritizing efficiency and speed in intercity travel.

In summary, the BJP’s election manifesto showcases a comprehensive vision for Bharat’s transportation and social policies, promising modernization, connectivity, and welfare initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive growth and development. With bold commitments to infrastructure expansion and social reform, the party seeks to secure a mandate for its ambitious agenda in the upcoming elections.
