The escalating tensions in the Middle East, Bharat’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, has urged both Iran and Israel to ease tensions. The region saw heightened conflict over the weekend, with Tehran launching over 300 missiles in response to a suspected Israeli strike that resulted in the deaths of seven Islamic Revolutionary Guards.
Jaishankar emphasized the importance of stability in the region, highlighting its significance for the global economy. He expressed concerns about the impact of escalating hostilities on Bharat’s interests, noting that a large portion of Bharatiya shipping passes through the region, and India relies on oil imports from there.
“We have been telling them not to allow this situation to escalate,” Jaishankar stated, indicating that he had reached out to both Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Israeli counterpart Israel Katz to convey this message.
Bharat remains vigilant and continues to monitor the situation closely, ensuring the safety of its citizens currently in the region. As tensions persist, the international community watches with apprehension, hoping for a de-escalation of hostilities in this volatile region.
