Remarkably, On Sunday Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP Chief J P Nadda, unveiled the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP’s) manifesto at the party’s headquarters.
PM Modi said, ‘The party’s manifesto- ‘Sankalp Patra’ empowers all 4 strong pillars of developed Bharat – Youth, Women, Poor and Farmers.
Notably, the BJP’s 2024 election manifesto highlights the vision for Bharat’s infrastructure development and energy sectors.
The manifesto aims for a commitment to expand the bullet train and metro networks. It also highlights plans to transform airports into multi-modal hubs.
It also aims for the growth of domestic shipbuilding, aviation, and railway manufacturing industries.
The BJP also promises the creation of new satellite towns near major metro cities across Bharat.
RAILWAYS
Bharat has laid 31,000 km of railway tracks over the past decade. As per the BJP Sankalp Patra 2024, with an ongoing addition of over 5,000 km annually, this pace of expansion is to be continued in the coming years.
A super application will be launched to provide all trains related services to users in a single app. The BJP focuses to promote manufacturing, research, and development in the railway sector to position Bharat as a leading global railway manufacturing hub.
The party plans to expand the redevelopment of railway stations to world-class standards, covering all major and medium-sized stations.
The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) between Delhi and Meerut will be expanded and other regional connectivity projects.
Railways include railway track expansion, super app for trains, global railway manufacturing hub, world-class stations, high-frequency trains, bullet trains, metro network expansion, new age trains, expansion of indigenous kavach train protection system.
AVIATION
The Amrit Kaal Civil Aviation Master Plan will be introduced to transform airports into regional-international hubs, providing single-point connectivity to regions worldwide, with the aim of positioning Bharat as the leading aviation ecosystem of South Asia.
The aim is to establish a commercial aircraft manufacturing ecosystem in Bharat, along with maintenance, repairs and overhaul (MRO) activities.
Airports will be transformed into multi-modal hubs with integrated transit facilities and the number of international airports will be increased, and new airports, helipads, and aerodromes will be developed.
Aviation includes formulating a master plan for airport transformation, global aviation manufacturing and MRO Hub, Airport modernization, international airport expansion.
ROADS
The present government has successfully facilitated the induction of over 30 lakh EVs, currently operational on roads. It will increase the fleets of EVs and will also establish EPV charging stations.
Modern road connectivity will be strengthened with 15,000 km of access-controlled highways. Ring roads around major cities will be constructed to improve mobility and decongest cities.
The PM Gram Sadak Yojana will be extended to remote areas to enhance connectivity and access to essential services.
Roads include promoting EVs, expressway and ring roads, PM Gram Sadak Yojana Expansion, road safety.
SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS
The BJP aims to integrate many inter-ministry initiatives, including the National Waterway Project, Namami Gange, the National River Conservation Plan, Jal Marg Vikas Project, and Arth Ganga, among others.
The party plans to expand water metro services to all regions. This expansion aims to enhance water-based public transportation networks and improve overall connectivity.
Shipping and waterways include building a homegrown shipping industry, Inland waterways enhancement, water metro expansion.
URBAN INFRA
Urban Infra includes affordable housing, new satellite townships, ease of mobility, water-secure cities, urban governance, modern regulatory framework, global conference hubs, urban governance curriculum.
Strengthening of the RERA Act and measures to facilitate homeownership for middle-income families will be implemented. Creation of new satellite townships near metro cities will be encouraged.
Unified metropolitan transport systems and AI-based traffic management will be implemented to reduce commute time.
Best practices for wastewater treatment and smart metering will be leveraged to create water-secure cities. Long-term infrastructure projects will be initiated through partnerships between the centre, state, and cities.
ENERGY SECTOR
Energy sector includes ensuring energy independence by 2047, implementing PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, increasing ethanol mix for dual benefits, expanding nuclear energy, accelerating Bharat’s renewable energy transition, developing battery energy storage system infrastructure, increasing green hydrogen production capacity, establishing smart grid, global manufacturing hub in renewable energy.
The BJP pledges to achieve energy independence for Bharat by 2047. This goal will be pursued through a strategic mix of electric mobility, the establishment of a network of charging stations, increased renewable energy production, and enhanced energy efficiency across sectors.
The party aims to empower homes across Bharat to run devices such as electric stoves, fans, ACs, and TVs, as well as enable EV charging through solar energy under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Enhncing the success of the Ethanol Blended Petrol Programme, the BJP plans to increase ethanol blending in petrol. This initiative aims to mitigate environmental degradation and provide additional income to farmers.
COMMON CIVIL CODE
The party pledged to implement the Common Civil Code. PM Modi said, ‘We will move forward with a resolve to realise the idea of One Nation, One Election. BJP also considers the Common Civil Code equally necessary in the interest of the country’.
The BJP said in its manifesto, ‘Article 44 of the Constitution lists Common Civil Code as one of the Directive Principles of State Policy. BJP believes that there cannot be gender equality till such time Bharat adopts a Uniform Civil Code, which protects the rights of all women, and the BJP reiterates its stand to draw a Common Civil Code, drawing upon the best traditions and harmonising them with the modern times.
ONE NATION, ONE ELECTION
The idea of ONOP signifies holding simultaneous elections across the country, which means, polls for Lok Sabha and state assemblies will be held together.
The High Level Committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind submitted its 18,626 page-long report on ‘One Nation, One Poll’ to President Droupadi Murmu last month.
The report revealed that of the 21,558 public responses received by the committee, more than 80 % (17,342) support the idea of holding simultaneous polls in Bharat.
‘We will create the necessary infrastructure and ecosystem for good governance, digital governance and data governance in the country’, said PM Modi. ‘We will move ahead with the resolve of ‘One Nation, One Election’, he added.
WOMEN DEVELOPMENT
The BJP’s manifesto listed his government’s achievement of making 10 crore women, especially in rural areas, a part of Self self-help groups and empowering one crore rural women to become lakhpati didis.
In its manifesto, the BJP has promised to integrate women SHG enterprises with the initiatives One District One Product and Farmer Producer Organisations among others, to provide good market access to help women boost their income.
PM Modi said, ‘The last 10 years have been about ensuring the dignity and empowerment of women; the next five years will be about ensuring their participation in the workforce. We will now empower women SHGs with the skills in key sectors like IT, healthcare, education, retail and tourism to increase their income’.
