On Tuesday, Shripad Y. Naik, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the North Goa constituency, officially filed his nomination papers in Panaji. The event saw the presence of several prominent BJP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade, BJP Goa president, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Taleigao MLA Jennifer Monserrate, among others.
Naik expressed confidence in BJP’s victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the formation of a ‘double engine government’ once again in Goa.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant joined the occasion, voicing assurance in BJP’s triumph. Sawant emphasized the people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantee of development and pledged the victory of both seats for the BJP. He stated, “PM Modi is giving the guarantee of development. The people trust his guarantee. Today, the people of Goa are giving the guarantee to PM Modi.”
Naik shared his optimism, highlighting the overwhelming support shown by the people gathered at the nomination filing event. He said, “Today I have filed my nomination papers for North Goa. Our South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo has also filed her nomination papers. The way people have gathered here itself shows the people’s support towards the BJP. We will definitely secure both the seats in Goa.”
Chief Minister Sawant further praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, commending his vision for Bharat’s transformation over the next 25 years. He urged voters, both new and old, to support Modi for a third term as Prime Minister, emphasizing his confidence in Modi’s ability to fulfill the country’s vision for the future.
According to the electoral schedule, Goa is set to vote in a single phase on May 7 for its two Lok Sabha constituencies, namely North Goa and South Goa. In the 2019 general elections, BJP’s Shripad Yesso Naik secured victory in the North Goa seat, while the South Goa seat was won by Congress candidate Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha.
With the upcoming elections drawing near, the political landscape in Goa remains charged as parties gear up for a decisive contest, vying for the electorate’s mandate.
The BJP, under the leadership of Shripad Y. Naik and supported by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, aims to retain its stronghold in the state and secure both Lok Sabha seats once again, banking on the trust and support of the people of Goa.
