Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a personalized approach to rally support for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In a signal aimed at bolstering morale and emphasizing the significance of the electoral process, PM Modi has written individual letters to all candidates representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Along with the BJP, PM Modi wrote letters to its allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), who are contesting in the first phase of the elections scheduled for April 19.
In these letters, PM Modi addresses the candidates as his “fellow karyakarta,” highlighting the exceptional nature of the forthcoming election. He underscores the transformative changes that have taken place over the past decade, asserting that despite progress, there are still challenges to be addressed.
PM Modi emphasizes the pivotal role this election will play in shaping the nation’s future, stressing the need for a stable government to continue the journey towards development.
Moreover, PM Modi extends health advice to both candidates and voters, acknowledging the adversities posed by the summer heat. Encouraging voters to exercise their franchise early in the day, PM Modi reiterates his slogan of “pehle matdaan phir jalpaan” (first vote, then breakfast), urging citizens to cast their votes before the sweltering heat sets in.
Each letter is tailored to the recipient, reflecting PM Modi’s personal appreciation for their contributions and sacrifices.
For instance, in a letter addressed to K Annamalai, the BJP candidate for Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, PM Modi commends to Annamalai. He said “I congratulate you on your decision to leave a prestigious job and commit to serving people directly.”
He moreover added in Annamalai’s letter, “You have been instrumental in fortifying the JP’s grassroots presence across Tamil Nadu, championing critical issues including law enforcement, governance and youth empowerment. Coimbatore stands to gain immensely from your committed leadership.”
Acknowledging Annamalai’s efforts in strengthening the BJP’s grassroots presence and championing critical issues such as law enforcement and youth empowerment, PM Modi expresses confidence in his ability to represent Coimbatore effectively in Parliament.
The campaigning for the first phase of elections marked the commencement of the silence period, signaling the final stretch before polling day. The first phase will witness voting in 102 constituencies across 21 states and Union Territories. Also including prominent states like Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
PM Modi’s personalized outreach underscores the BJP’s concerted efforts to galvanize support and secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections. As the political landscape intensifies with each passing day, the electorate awaits the opportunity to exercise their democratic right and shape the destiny of the nation.
