Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu exercised his franchise in the first phase of Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections at a polling station in Tawang.
Taking to social media CM Khandu wrote, “Happy to cast my vote at Government Secondary School, Bomba, today, the very institution where I received my education. A nostalgic moment indeed, reflecting on my journey. Do cast your vote today!”
Soon after casting his vote the Arunachal CM asserted this time Kamal ka Phool – the Lotus flower, symbol of BJP – is sure to bloom in his State and the BJP will win both Lok Sabha seats.
Polling for Assembly elections in the Northeastern States of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim also began with voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday.
“Today is the mega festival of democracy and voting for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is underway. I expect that the number of voters this year will surpass the number of voters in 2019. BJP is going to make history in the State. We will also win both Lok Sabha seats. In the previous election, BJP got 41 seats and we hope this time BJP will get 60 out of 60 seats,” he said.
“This time the lotus flower is sure to bloom in Arunachal Pradesh,” CM Khandu added. Further, the Arunachal CM highlighted people are moving forward with the politics of the performance of the BJP.
“I toured both the Lok Sabha seats and after interacting with the people I saw that people are very happy with PM Modi. Everyone will thank Modi ji by making both the candidates win,” he said.
In Arunachal Pradesh West, Congress’ Nabam Tuki is facing BJP’s Kiren Rijiju and in Arunachal Pradesh East, Congress’ Bosiram Siram is in the fray against BJP’s Tapir Gao.
Apart from Arunachal, Sikkim will vote for 32 Assembly seats and a lone Lok Sabha seat. The polls to elect the 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha are underway. The results will be declared on June 4.
