In a striking condemnation of his own party’s handling of his daughter’s tragic demise, Congress Councillor Niranjan Hiremath made a fervent plea on Sunday, openly naming eight individuals he believes to be involved in his daughter’s murder. Expressing profound dissatisfaction with the Karnataka government’s response, Hiremath asserted that despite his efforts, no action has been taken against the alleged perpetrators.
The victim, Neha Hiremath, a first-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) student at KLE Technological University in Hubballi, was fatally assaulted by her former classmate Fayaz on the premises of her college earlier this month. The shocking incident ignited widespread condemnation and sparked protests throughout the state.
“I have given the names of 8 people openly. They have not even caught one person,” stated Hiremath in an interview with news agency ANI. “I am losing faith now. They are trying to divert my case. Give it to CBI if you cannot do it… The commissioner in this case is a lady, even then she is not taking a girl’s murder seriously… She is working under some pressure… I demand the commissioner should be transferred for negligence in the case… I demand that the case should be given to CBI.”
Meanwhile, JP Nadda called it a shocking incident and said that it condemnable. He also weighed in the fact that statements made by CM Siddaramaiah’s and Home Minister G Parameshwara were not acceptable because they were made in an attempt to dilute the matter.
“The people of Karnataka will not spare the current government for its appeasement politics. The state government should hand over the case to the CBI if the State Police is incapable of a fair probe,” he said.
