Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accused the previous Congress government of failing to respond adequately to terror attacks orchestrated by Pakistan. Speaking at a rally in Maharashtra’s Akola, Shah claimed that while in power, the Congress administration did not take decisive action against terrorism due to what he described as “vote bank politics.”

Shah highlighted that during the tenure of the Congress-led government, frequent attacks from Pakistan were a norm, yet concrete measures to address the issue were lacking. He contrasted this with the approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, citing the swift and decisive surgical and air strikes carried out in response to the Uri and Pulwama terror attacks.
The BJP leader asserted that PM Modi’s government swiftly retaliated against terrorist activities, eliminating threats to Bharat’s security. He credited the BJP-led administration for taking proactive steps to combat terrorism and naxalism, citing the successful operations conducted by the Indian armed forces under PM Modi’s leadership.
Article 370 Repeal and Economic Growth
Additionally, criticizing the Congress’s approach to national security, Shah addressed the contentious issue of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
He accused the Congress of “pampering” Article 370, likening it to an “illegitimate child.” The revocation of Article 370 in 2019, Shah asserted, was a significant step taken by the Modi government to integrate Jammu and Kashmir more closely with the rest of the country.
Shah also talked upon Bharat’s economic growth under the leadership of PM Modi. He claimed that when the Congress government relinquished power, Bharat’s economy was languishing in the 11th position globally.
However, under PM Modi’s stewardship, Shah asserted that Bharat had climbed to the 5th position, with promises of further advancement to the 3rd position in the world economy.
PM Modi’s Strong Leadership
Echoing sentiments expressed by PM Modi earlier this month, Shah emphasized the importance of strong leadership in safeguarding Bharat’s interests. He asserted that Bharat’s adversaries had exploited perceived weaknesses in previous administrations, but under PM Modi, the nation’s armed forces had demonstrated resilience and efficacy in dealing with security threats.
Amit Shah’s remarks underscored the BJP’s narrative of decisive governance under PM Modi’s leadership, particularly in matters of national security and economic development.
As the political discourse intensifies ahead of upcoming elections, such pronouncements are likely to shape public perceptions and influence electoral outcomes.
